Fashion

Welcome to Fashion Friday Link-Up No. 2! In case you missed it, here was our first link-up party. The goal of the Fashion Friday Link-Up Party is to connect with and feature women who love fashion. I decided to create a link-up party as a way to celebrate these people and hopefully meet more amazing ladies.
This season, I’ve been on the search for a black gold bracelets – black leather bracelet with gold accents – which I first fell in love with at Saint Laurent. When I first saw it, I almost lost control and blindly charged it, but I managed to regain my senses. My fiscally savvy-self could not justify the purchase, even though I consider a piece like this completely worthy of the splurge since the iconic brand makes it something of a collector’s piece.

When it comes to shopping for fashion, some people really enjoy the process – browsing stores, strolling through malls, trying things on, etc., while others would skip all of that just to find a good deal. I tend to fall somewhere in the middle. I actually prefer using the internet to find items and then hit the mall to see them in person.

I never really understood the need for sunglasses until I moved to Phoenix back in 2004. With over 300 days of sun and the glare from the desert, they were a must. Now that I live in sunny southern California, I still wear sunglasses every single day, so I don’t mind spending a bit more on a nice pair.

I’ve been leery of wearing shorts since I was in high school and I became self-conscious about my thighs. Like most girls, I have my areas that I prefer to keep covered. But in recent years, I’ve realized that my insecurities about my thighs were unjustified. No, I shouldn’t be rocking the 2013 version of the 90s daisy dukes I avoided back then, but my legs are plenty worthy of a walking short or a mid-thigh length.

Studs, recently, are as ubiquitous as vampire love stories. I featured studded pumps a few weeks back and fall fashion remains stud-centric. Now it’s black leather gold studded bags. When I saw Saint Laurent’s new Betty style handbag, I fell for the interesting turned-up corner flaps and the unique shape of the studs.

I don’t have much time to browse the mall like I did before I had my daughter. Now, I mostly use online retail sites to stay current with what’s new. The other day, I went to Nordstrom’s site and saw this stylish look. I love this crochet top and skort look because the coral is bright and cheery, and the army skort (yes, skort) looks fresh with strappy heels.

It’s officially beach season, yay! I recently bought a practical beach tote (on sale!) for lugging Rocco’s sand toys to the beach. Although practical, I also wanted to get a cute adult-friendly version to go with my new one-piece (seriously, how cute is this for such a steal?!), so I started browsing for black accented woven beach totes.

Everyday Sequins in Your Everyday Wardrobe Sequin is not just for New Years Eve party-wear, as you can now find it in everyday fashions. Sequin pieces bring sparkle into otherwise gloomy and cold winter days. Of course, I definitely approve of wearing a sequin party dress for New Years Eve or carrying a sparkly clutch…

You’re thinking, “wow, so original, knits for fall”. But I’m not talking about your favorite go-to cashmere sweater, I’m talking about every kind of knit you can imagine—oversized, with extreme turtle necks, chunky, and with prints. No knit is forgotten this fall, but chunky knit sweaters are definitely a must-have fashion trend.

With so many trendy fall coats under $300, it’s hard to decided on which style to buy. Whether you’re into capes, military-inspired, mixed media, or robe coats, almost any style goes. If you’re searching for the hottest trend, then you’ll get a robe style coat, which is extra popular this fall. If you like classic, you might opt for a trench, a car coat or a lady-like style.

New Years Eve is one of those special occasions where I think it’s totally acceptable to splurge a little bit on your look. You should buy something that makes you feel incredibly special, at least every now and then. If budget is your worry, there are tons of great party dresses out there at reasonable prices.

So I’m a little late on the national wear red day, but it’s never too late to wear a red dress. Wearing red shows you are confident and bold. Red is actually one of my favorite colors to wear when I need a little pick me up or I have an important meeting. I immediately feel a boost of energy and confidence.

I’m so excited to introduce you to our newest Model Mom, Aimee. I met Aimee through one of our previous model moms, Andrea. Aimee was kind enough to let us shoot at her gorgeous, newly remodeled home. The moment she opened her large wooden front door, I felt an immense warmth and kindness radiating from Aimee.

I’ve always been into fashion, but since I started blogging, I’ve become hyper aware of trends and styles. I didn’t even know what a Pantone color was until about a year ago. Now that I follow color trends more closely, I was super excited when they announced marsala as the 2015 Pantone color of the year.

If I’m honest, I generally do my own pedicures at home or visit my local strip mall for the $20 standard pedicure. I never get the add-ons –no sea salts or flower decals for me. When it comes to pedicures, I just never really thought there were that many benefits of a spa deluxe pedicure that would make it worth the high price tag.

Winter accessories for women have more style and panache than ever. A knit hat is no longer just a knit hat, but features rhinestones, gems or interesting prints. Scarves come in all shades and textures and prints. Gloves and mittens have interesting hardware or cutout details. If your winter jacket is the standard gray or…

The lace up neckline has been popping up all over my social media lately. It seems like every fashion blogger and model is rocking a lace up neckline. To be honest, I’ve been on the fence about this trend. I really don’t like when the neckline is too low and other times, the look skews a little too hippy for me.

I’ve owned this red asymmetrical jacket for several years. It rotates in and out of my closet every few months. I literally move it into a storage closet when I get tired of it, and then a few seasons later, I’ll grab it to add to my current wardrobe. I only get tired of it because it has such a specific style, I can’t wear it too often.

It may sound silly, but one of the reasons I was most excited to move back to Arizona is because Phoenix has some really great resale and consignment stores. This week’s outfit post is a perfect example of the best resale shops in Phoenix. Almost my entire look for the Gala I attended this past weekend came from resale and consignment shops.

Spring has officially arrived in Phoenix, so I’m breaking out dresses and sandals already. I love floral prints for spring because they are a bright and cheery departure from the darker colors and heavier materials I wear in winter. When I saw this floral flounce dress from LOFT, I knew it had to be part of my spring wardrobe.

I haven’t used self-tanners in over a decade, but when JERGENS® invited me to try out their line of products, I jumped at the chance to get the best sunless tan. It’s already shorts weather here in Phoenix and I’m tired of having ultra pale legs. Using sunless tanner seemed like a good way to get a little color without causing any skin damage.

You know when you see a dress at the store and you’re like, this totally won’t work on me, but you try it on anyway? That’s how I felt about this pink sheath dress I found on ultra-clearance the other day. The color was quite bright, almost neon, and the shape seemed a bit too straight for my curvy body.

I’m not a huge skirt person. I just recently decided I can wear pencil skirts, after years of avoiding them. The same goes for a maxi skirt. I’ve worn maxi dresses every now and then, but I generally stick to knee-length or midi-length skirts or dresses because I find them more flattering on my figure.

Have you noticed there are two colors – periwinkle blue and rose pink – dominating fashion lately? That’s probably because they are the Pantone colors of 2016. I previously discussed rose quartz, which I actually have been wearing a lot lately, but this is the first time I’m trying out the serenity color in this periwinkle dress.
Animal prints never really go out of style. Sure, pink neon leopard might only last one season, but timeless prints tend to hang on. This fall is no exception. I admit I’m not a fan of all-over animal print in clothing, but I like adding subtle touches in shoes and accessories. Snakeskin or python print…

I’m in love with my black and white tribal print dress. I recently got it on major summer discount for under $10! Although my dress was technically from summer, it is a great piece I plan to wear this fall because it is made of a thicker material and will be easy to wear with tights and booties when the weather cools down.

Fall 2016 fashion seems a bit disjointed. Skinny jeans are still majorly on trend, but now I’m seeing major bell bottoms and also ultra baggy jeans (think 90s grunge) are also making a comeback. The fringe and tassels fashion trend are still really cool on everything from handbags to booties to leather gloves.

You know when you find a dress and you’re like, I need this? Yeah, that’s how I feel about this black floral silk dress. I previously owned a short sleeve dress that looked very similar to this one, but over the years, I wore it out. I was extra excited when I spotted this dress because I just knew it was for me.

I love December—full of holiday baking, parties and decorating. I also love the opportunity to buy a flirty and feminine holiday dress for Christmas parties or New Year’s Eve. I generally don’t endorse buying items that aren’t versatile, but I fully support buying one special party dress per year that you can wear to a holiday party (and New Year’s Eve, if you pick wisely).

The goal of the Fashion Friday Link-Up Party is to connect with and feature women who love fashion. For the first two years of blogging, I was completely oblivious to the community of bloggers and how supportive they were. I had no idea just what amazing friendships could develop via social media and through blogging.

With its bold purple, striking pink highlights and faded yellow center, this flower actually began my inspiration for this series of posts, as I found it only a few steps from my front door, climbing up a neighboring patio. With this flower in mind, I chose this DVF dress for its deep and rich purple…
The other day, I decided to walk to the CAMP, which is a funky, “hipster”- friendly, little outdoor mall near my house. As I was walking through my neighborhood, I noticed gorgeous flowers in practically every direction. I often notice trees, flowers, insects and nature in general. Maybe it’s my Midwestern roots, spending summers on…

I’m always on the lookout for comfortable and stylish black pumps. I have a patent leather pair with a rounded toe and a thicker stacked heel that have come in handy for many work meetings. It’s rare to find a pair of conference room-friendly pumps that also look great for evening. These Black Leather…

Fashion is cyclical. What’s old is new, and the 50’s style, retro beach look of swimsuit is apparent in this one-piece as well as the many high-waisted two-pieces seen this season (like this one). I was immediately drawn to this retro vibe of this color-blocked one-piece with sweetheart neckline. The seaming at the chest…

I am seriously into purses (and shoes)—you could almost call it an addiction. Sprawled on the couch with my laptop, chances are good that I’m browser-window shopping for handbags. What started as a minor obsession to find a Marc Jacobs STAM bag, back in 2005, has become a weekly, if not daily, obsession to find the…
