Do you clean your house every week? I spot-clean when I notice things aren’t as clean as I’d like, but I definitely don’t do a thorough clean as often as I’d like. Now that spring has finally arrived in Boston, spring cleaning is on my mind. But here’s the thing, there are a lot of places I have not cleaned in way too long. a lot of places people forget to clean on a regular basis.

New York is one of my favorite cities. So much so, that we almost moved there in 2011. I was this close to accepting a job in the city. Often, I wonder what my life would have been like had I made that decision. I try not to dwell on the past too much, but New York remains one of my favorite places to visit. Who knows, maybe I’ll even live there someday. Although I’ve been to New York at least a dozen times, this was the first time I got to experience spring in New York City.

Have you noticed mules are one of the hottest shoe trends for spring? Honestly, I wasn’t sure it was a trend I wanted to get behind, but then I found these gold mules and knew I had to give them a try. If you ever wondered how to wear mules, this post is for you.

We are all busy. When I tell people I work full-time as an Assistant Dean at a university and I also have a blog and two kids under 6, they don’t know how I do it. Well, I honestly fail quite a bit. What I’ve found that works is a lot of organization and not much downtime. That’s why it’s super important to me to find products that make my life easier. It is a constant struggle to keep my home, office, car, and life clean and organized, but some products just make it a lot easier.

After a workout, I often enjoy a simple protein shake. Usually, I’ll just use almond milk (light, unsweetened vanilla flavor, btw), and a scoop of whey. If I’m feeling extra hungry, I might throw in a tablespoon of peanut butter. Most of the time, this protein shake just serves to tide me over until it’s meal time.

After a long day at work, I hurriedly rush into my kids’ preschool, only to find them covered in slime. I’m tired. It’s been a long day. Now I get to help peel slime off their hands, clothes, arms, so they won’t taint my car with that sticky messy stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I loved playing with slime when I was a kid and I think it’s cool my kids like it too. I just don’t love the clean-up afterward. But they love slime so much, I’ve pulled the 11 coolest slime recipes I could find.

Spring has finally arrived in Boston, and I seriously couldn’t be happier. Baseball season also officially kicked off last week. I’m pretty sad I missed all the Phoenix spring training this year, but hopefully I can get back next spring. With spring and baseball on my mind, I started thinking about how baseball inspires fashion. Well, enter the baseball jacket aka the bomber jacket.

One of the biggest fashion trends for 2018 is dressed-up track pants. I’m pretty excited about this trend because I rocked track pants nonstop back in college. The main difference is that I wore them like pjs, with baggy college sweatshirts and sneakers. The track pants look for 2018 is a lot more elevated an chic.

Confession: I cannot have jars of Nutella in my house. It’s a problem. I just like it too much! So, when the company sent me a couple jars, I knew I had to use them right away. I have another recipe coming up in a couple weeks, but I had to use this other jar immediately.

So I’ve been into headscarves ever since the 6th grade. I can distinctly remember this time where we had to go around the class and write something nice about everyone in the class. Several students wrote that they liked my headscarves.

My kids are such picky eaters, especially my son. I’m constantly looking for new ideas for meals to change it up. These breakfast bruschetta with Nutella® Hazelnut Spread are super easy to make, taste fantastic, and are a fun way to shake up our breakfast routine. Plus, it is so versatile to use with toast, fruit, and yogurt.

In my house, Easter generally centers on my kids, their Easter baskets, and the little Easter egg hunt I always put together for them at our house. I also like to cook a nice meal, which we usually eat in the mid-afternoon. This year, I’m taking Easter up a notch and thinking about the other people in my life who I want to share the Easter spirit with. Even though Easter is usually about the kids, there’s no reason we can’t make it more about our family and friends who we love. With family and friends in mind, I’m sharing some Easter basket ideas for all the people in our lives.

Growing up in Wisconsin, eating cheese was part of my daily diet (good or bad). On a regular basis, my mom would purchase the spreadable cheeses – my favorite was the wine cheese flavor with the cheddar being a close second. I recently had a chance to make a recipe featuring my childhood favorite brand (Kaukauna is only 20 minutes from my hometown), so I came up with this super easy cheddar apple crostini recipe.

I never planned to write this, but it’s time I share my #metoo story. 16 years have passed and I buried it deep down inside of me, more than a decade ago. Only a handful of people know, and I didn’t see a reason not to keep it that way. All of that changed last fall when the Me Too Movement went viral.

How do you celebrate Easter with your family? Brunch is a major Easter tradition in many households and since my family loves breakfast foods, I’m planning to create a whole spread for them. I’ve never made sticky cinnamon buns before, so when I teamed up with Pillsbury™, I was excited to create these sticky cinnamon buns.

Last week, I got the chance to visit Miami for the first time since 2002. In my teens and early 20s, I spent quite a lot of time in South Florida between spring breaks, winter breaks, family trips, and lots of road trips to escape the cold Wisconsin weather. I think I’d been to Florida nearly 20 times by the age of 22.

I’ve been a major fan of t-shirt dresses ever since my trip to Italy in 2016. I had two different t-shirt dresses, a black one, and a floral print one. I wore them nonstop on that trip because they are super comfortable, still look put-together, go with everything, and don’t wrinkle.

I have a problem, a photo problem. Are you like me? I want a picture of every moment. Every. Single. Experience. Some people don’t get why I have such an obsession with photos. I’ve always been in love with visual things – art, nature, the sky. Now that we all have cameras in our purses and back pockets, I often feel like I’m bombarding myself with photos, so many of which get lost in the mix of yet another iPhone pic.

Raise your hands if you’re one tired mama. I know My hands are high above my head right now. Despite my best attempts at getting enough sleep, there are still nights where I struggle. Now that my kids are finally out of diapers and completely potty trained, there aren’t many night-time events anymore. That’s been huge for my sleep quality, but there are still nights when one of them has a bad dream or they need to use the potty (and must have me tuck them back in). You know how it goes.

Getting to attend my first New York Fashion Week was such an amazing experience. Even though I didn’t get to go to any of the premier designer shows, I still got to attend quite a few up-and-coming designer shows that were a lot of fun. With the trip behind me, I have an eye on the biggest trends from New York Fashion Week. Here are 7 that stood out to me.

New York is one of my favorite cities. It is such an amazing city for lots of reasons. I love that you can find literally anything you could ever want there. I love getting to experience different cultures. The public transportation is phenomenal. The energy of the city is palpable. There are so many fantastic restaurants. One of the things I love the most, though, are the unexpected sights of New York that you find simply by walking down the street.

When I started Posh in Progress in 2013, I made a list of about 100 things I hoped to accomplish. Near the top of that list was attending New York Fashion Week. Last week, nearly five years later, I was finally able to check that off my list.

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? We don’t usually do much, besides getting the Valentines ready for the kids’ school friends. Every now and then, I’ll make a Valentine’s Day-inspired dessert. Another way I get my kids involved is by making Valentine art and crafts for preschool kids. My kids are at the age they really love doing arts and crafts. On the weekends, my son often asks me if we can do an activity – which usually entails painting or play dough.

If there was only one item I could bring with me to fashion week, I think it would be one of my best motorcycle jackets. I am obsessed with leather jackets, and specifically motorcycle jackets because they are so versatile! You can literally wear them with anything.

The late 90s, prepping for the prom, was the last I had fake nails. That was the first and that last time — until last week. Sure, I’ve gotten many a manicure over the years, but adding extensions or fake nails was not something I thought I’d like. Then last week, I went in for a regular gel manicure, but my nails were super short.

What are you doing for the big football game this weekend? We will definitely be chilling at home with the kids and I plan to make the best appetizers to prepare. For the first time, I made this homemade pretzel bites, and they are definitely on the list for Sunday.

I’ve decided to take more fashion risks this year. Since having kids, I’ve realized I’ve been in quite a rut. Although I’ve always taken pride in looking my best, for the last couple years, I’ve been rocking basically the same style. I wear the same jewelry, never venturing into new territory, until I found these gold statement earrings.

Are you a meal prep person? Lately, I’ve been trying really hard to pre-plan meals that I can take with me to work or eat while I’m on the go. This mini breakfast casserole recipe are a great on-the-go breakfast or dinner (if you like breakfast for dinner like I do ).

Not too many things in nature are as beautiful as the falling of the first snow of the year. Then, reality sets in. But before you have time to complain, to dread the shoveling and the slush, you see the world inside of a snow globe. It is quite, magical, serene.

What are you wearing for Valentine’s day? I recently found this gorgeous red dress for under $40 and I think it is a perfect red Valentine’s Day dress. (I’ve linked to a similar style below. I found mine just a couple weeks ago at H&M, but I can’t find it online!) I’ve talked about special occasion dresses in the past. Generally, I’m not a fan of buying things that you’d only wear once. It’s just not practical. But every now and then, I’m down.

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably garnered that I’m pretty sad we had to leave San Diego. Due to my university schedule, we were able to travel for nearly three weeks with our kids. My parents rented a condo on Mission Beach and we had the best time at the beach, taking in the sunsets, and getting a whole lot of quality family time. I also found lots of free things to do with kids in San Diego, so I thought I’d share my top 5.

Lately, I happen upon fashion trends rather than actually know about them when they first happen. I’ve always been a huge fan of lace (see here, here, and here). But lately, I’ve been really into the lace bell sleeve top trend. I didn’t even realize how much I liked it until I came home with this top, which looked very similar to this top I also owned. (I’ve got a bit of a problem with buy duplicates too).

Last summer was the first time we took our kids to an amusement park. They had been on little rides and fairs, but our first trip to LEGOLAND® went so well, we decided it would be fun to visit again during the holidays. What I didn’t realize was just how cool it would be for our kids to experience Christmas at LEGOLAND.

What do you do when you have 2 jars of Nutella in the pantry? My first thought was to crack one open and eat it with a spoon (don’t lie, I know you were thinking the same thing). Despite my desires, I did the mature thing. I baked these 3 ingredient Nutella cookies and gave them to my neighbors for the holidays.

A few years ago, I was at the Dr. and I complained of being overly tired. Tiredness can come from a lot of causes, especially being a new mom. Despite my less than useful description of symptoms, the Dr. tested me for a few things I wasn’t expecting.

Traveling with little kids can be seriously overwhelming. I’ve traveled with them since they were infants and I’ve learned a lot of things along the way. Given all the mistakes I’ve made, I figured it was about time I share little travel hacks that can make traveling with kids a whole lot easier and less stressful. Here are my top 6 tips to make traveling with kids a snap.

I’m not sure about you, but every New Years, I love to get a new dress. There are not that many special occasions during the year where I feel the necessity to buy something new. Finding New Year’s Eve dresses each year is one of the few times when I do.

In the fall and winter, I love to make a lot of casserole dishes because they are warm, filling, and can last throughout the week. My kids love pasta and I’m trying to sneak more veggies into their diet whenever I can. That’s where this roasted Mediterranean vegetable baked ziti comes in.

If you anything like me, you look for time-management tips wherever you can find them. One of my absolute favorite parts about the holiday season is having more excuses to bake. I love to bake for a couple reasons. First, I find it very therapeutic and relaxing. Second, I love making things to share with the people I love.

Despite my love of the holidays, I have a problem. My husband is a Grinch. He hates the holidays, for a variety of reasons. We’ve been together for almost 15 years, so I’m used to his grouchiness around the holidays. However, I still want my kids to love the holidays just as much as I do. My husband keeps his grumpiness to himself, most of the time, so I want to start some fun holiday traditions this year that are simple to accomplish with preschoolers.

What do you give someone who invites you to their house for a holiday party, or to the person who is hosting you for a holiday trip? It can be really tricky to decide what is appropriate, so I’ve come up with 12 hostess gift ideas to help you get ready for the holiday season.

Have you ever heard of pasta fagioli? First, it’s Italian so it’s technically called pasta e fagioli, pronounced “pas-ta fa-jo-li” in English, and literally means ‘pasta and beans’. It’s a classic Italian soup, but depending on the variety of bean and type of pasta, it can almost be called a stew.

I wish I could take your unconditional love and box it up. Are you into sweet potato recipes for your holiday meals? What are your go-to side dishes? We almost always make cornbread stuffing, mac and cheese, and roasted Brussels sprouts. Every now and then, we’ll also make a sweet potato casserole.

As a working mom, my weekends are when I get the most quality time with my kids. The rest of the week, I constantly feel like I’m managing their requests and time so strictly that I have to say no a lot. On the weekends, we can finally let go, just have fun and I can finally say YES!

I never expected my kids to love moving to Boston as quickly or as much as they do. Growing up in Wisconsin, I guess I forgot to consider just how much I loved the four seasons as a kid. I loved splashing in puddles, I love playing in the snow, and I spent every waking hour of the summer outside.

What are your go-to beauty products? A lot of my current favorite products are from my local drugstore. It’s pretty amazing what high-quality and effective products you can find at your local Walgreens. Given all the product testing I’ve done over the years, I figured I should share what I’ve learned so you don’t have to go through trying not-so-great products.

What do you get when you mix Dr Pepper and popcorn? A ridiculously delicious Dr Pepper caramel corn recipe. To be honest with you, I had my doubts about this recipe. However, I’m so glad I tried it because it is such a fun and easy way to make caramel corn.

I’m usually pretty confident in my appearance, but one thing that’s been bothering me for several years are the age spots on the face. I have a few distinct spots on each of my cheeks and one on my left temple. These age spots really bother me, so much that I’ve tried a lot of things to improve them.

Ladies, is there any worse hairdo than when you’re growing out bangs? Seriously, it feels like a bad hair day almost every day. It is unnecessarily painful because you feel like you look like you haven’t gotten a haircut in forever (which you probably haven’t) and your hair can look so awkward when you’re growing out bangs.

What are you making for the holidays this year? Tired of regular mashed potatoes? I think you should try garlic smashed potatoes as one of your holiday side dishes this year. Why – you ask? Well, these are so easy to make and taste so much better than your standard mashed potatoes.

For Halloween this year, my kids asked to be dinosaurs. I really wanted to make their costumes this year because I didn’t have time to do it last year. It really bothered me that I wasn’t able to make them last year. I was determined to make them a DIY dinosaur costume this year.

Hi, I’m Stacey and I’m a pumpkin spice addict. I can’t help but laugh when I look back at the four years of blogging and realize I’ve made nearly a dozen pumpkin spice recipes. I’ve been a fan of pumpkin bread and all the other assortments of pumpkin since I was a little kid.

What are you cooking for Thanksgiving this year? Chances are high that you (or your family or friends) will make some green bean casserole recipes. As a kid, I distinctly remember my grandma made it and I didn’t eat much of it.

Have you seen all the women’s kimonos in stores this fall? At first, I was a bit unsure of this trend. Yes, all the super fashion-forward fashion bloggers were rocking them, but could I? I was uncertain for two reasons. First, I’m not stick straight or thin. I’m a curvy girl with fuller and wider hips. I was worried a kimono would overwhelm my frame.

I get anxious a lot. Since having kids, it’s gotten much worse. I think all of the jugglings of the daily tasks has turned me into a much tenser person. This increased anxiety is not good for me, my kids or my marriage. It makes all of us stressed and on edge.
I think I found the best multi-tasking recipe ever. This gingerbread cookie recipe works perfectly to make these gingerbread turtle thumbprint cookies, gingerbread crinkle cookies, and would also be great to make these funny gingerbread men or these gingerbread emoji cookies. You get the idea – I really love this gingerbread cookie recipe.

It’s 5:00 am on Saturday morning. My eyes snap open as I sense someone is staring at me. It’s my two preschoolers, poking me, whispering in the softest voice, “is it time to get up mommy?” I want to scream at them, “go back to sleep!” but instead I roll out of bed, blurry-eyed and put on a morning cartoon to appease them until I’m awake. For the longest time, I was desperate to figure out how to keep early risers in bed longer.

Can you believe Christmas is less than 3 months away? I can’t believe fall is already here and I have so much to do to get ready for the holidays. My family is coming to visit for Thanksgiving and we’re hoping to travel somewhere warm this Christmas season.

This is the first time I have to pack my kids’ lunches for school. With a super picky eater on my hands, it can be challenging. Luckily, their preschool is willing to heat things up for them, so I’m not limited to sandwiches-only. Either way, it can still be hard to come up with kid-friendly lunch ideas for school.

Everyone told me Rome was too touristy, too hot, too dirty. These comments were a good reminder that I should not care what people think or say because they were wrong. Rome was amazing. Sure, there were tourists, there were some dirtier streets and there were days that were hot, but the good far outweighed any bad.

I have a shoe addiction problem. Since we just moved, I had to buy three shoe racks to fit all my shoes, and my poor husband didn’t even get one. Although I do have a shoe problem, lucky for me, I already own several pairs that fit into the major fall shoe trends this season.

Are you in a makeup rut? Personally, I know I am. I tend to stick to my 5-minute no-makeup look most days of the week. I hardly ever throw on lipstick or veer very far from my standard brown eyeshadows. It’s not that I don’t love trying out new makeup – I do! I just don’t take the time to try out new trends that often.

Who else is excited about pumpkin spice recipes? It’s the most pumpkiny time of the year! Now that I live in Boston, I’m really looking forward to the fall. Major news from the Freemans – we are moving to Boston! I can hardly believe it myself. I’m still in shock about it actually. If you didn’t get the title of this story – it’s a reference to this song and leaving the Valley of the Sun. I’m going to miss our chosen city, but Boston is calling.

In July, we had the chance to take our kids to southern California for a long weekend. Hilton invited us to check out three of their properties as part of their California Road Trip promotion. Baby oil is a total multi-tasker. I just realized it the other day. While I was cleaning out my medicine cabinet, I noticed I had a whole bottle. Since my babies don’t need it anymore, and I haven’t used it to tan since I was an idiot in HS, I figured there must be other uses for it.
