Dresses are my thing. I love wearing dresses because they are so comfortable, feminine, and generally figure-flattering. Empire waist dresses are usually hit or miss for me, but sometimes they hit just right. This red floral empire waist dress is perfect for my frame, so I wanted to talk about how to choose and style empire waist dresses.

I’ve made blueberry muffins on my blog before, but it had been a very long time. The other recipe had a streusel topping and ginger, which is a great combo for blueberry muffins. But this time, I wanted something super simple. That’s why I decided to make these quick and easy blueberry muffins.

To say I’m a busy mom would be an understatement. With my kids at home so much more, and telecommuting for my job, I’ve had to work a lot harder to stay organized so I can manage my busy mom life. Many people have asked me over the years how I manage a full-time job as a university administrator, a full-time blogging business, and all of my duties as a mom. I’m not superwoman, and I promise you, it’s not always pretty. There are many days when I fail at one or more of my jobs. But, I keep trying, and learning as I go, to be as productive and happy as I can be. I bet you’re really busy too, so here are some tips on how I manage my busy mom life.

I found this dress at Target the other day and I quickly knew I needed it. I love the stirred, stretchy bodice and the ties at the shoulders. It’s super lightweight and so easy to throw on over a swimsuit or a grocery store run. Because I love this one so much (and it’s unsurprisingly sold out), I thought I’d share some other great black floral dresses with you.

I’ve lived in Southern California for nearly 5 years, on and off. I’ve traveled up and down the coast from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Honestly, I thought I had been to all of the beaches in LA, San Diego, and Orange County. But last week, I found my new favorite beach. One of the major reasons I couldn’t wait to move back to California is because of the beaches. Given that I have experienced a lot of what Orange County has to offer, I thought I’d share the best Orange County beaches.

Apple pie is such a classic for summer and fall. It’s one of the few desserts that most people love. It’s nostalgic and delicious. But homemade pie crust can be kind of a pain to make. That’s why you need to try this semi-homemade apple slab pie crust recipe. It’s so much easier to make and tastes just as good. Plus, I like that you can pick up a piece without a fork, if that’s your thing.

There are certain dresses that are so good you have to buy two. I literally got this white floral dress in two colors, including navy floral because it’s so good. Its the perfect summer dress, and priced right, so I got two. When I first saw this white floral off the shoulder dress, I especially fell for the cutout lace detail at the waistline. Next, I noticed the price. This dress is under $20 dollars!

A few weeks ago, I shared this nuts and seeds cookies recipe. I still had a lot of extra sunflower and sesame seeds leftover from that recipe, so I created this healthy oatmeal breakfast cookies recipe. Both recipes are similar in that they are crunchy and nutty.

I’m longing for a vacation. Badly. I know I’m super privileged that the worst part about COVID for me has been the fact that I had to cancel several trips. I’ve chosen not to travel (other than a road trip to San Diego a couple weeks ago) because public health demands it. The best thing I can do to do my part is to stay home, social distance, and severely limit travel.

What are your biggest concerns related to COVID? Of course, I’m concerned for our health, but my bigger concerns are actually about my children’s development. I worry that they are not interacting with their friends. I’m concerned that they aren’t at school, learning from qualified teachers. I am also sad that they have not been able to see their family and friends for months.

I’m a lifestyle blogger, who over the last few years, has morphed into a travel-centric blogger. For my last two jobs, I had many opportunities to travel nationally (Seattle, Miami, New York) and internationally (like South Africa, Buenos Aires, Italy, Turks & Caicos, Puerto Vallarta). This spring, I was supposed to visit Montreal, Slovenia, and a few other U.S. cities too.

How are you celebrating the 4th of July this weekend? Since my family is still practicing social distancing as much as possible, we will definitely stay close to home. We’ll probably have a little bbq at our neighborhood park. I was hoping to take my kids to see fireworks this year, but all of the events near me have been canceled. We can still have a fun time at our house with the old fashioned at-home fireworks.

One of my all-time favorite low carb recipes is my cauliflower breadsticks. I make them at least a couple of times a month. Although I love them, I decided to try to swap out cauliflower for zucchini because I had a bunch of zucchini on hand. Let me tell you, this zucchini pizza crust recipe turned out even better than I expected! If you want to try this delicious low carb pizza recipe for yourself, I’m going to show you how.

Back in March, I had the chance to go to Huntington Beach with the Travel Mom for her first-weekend getaway. She had many fun activities on her weekend itinerary, including fancy dinners, parties, and some amazing speakers. One thing I never expected, was that I would learn how to surf.

One of my favorite summer trends is matching two piece sets. I recently ordered a few different matching sets from Shein. If you haven’t shopped at Shein, one of the reasons I love it is because you can try different trends without spending too much. That way, if you only wear it for a season or two, you won’t feel bad about donating it or sticking it in the back of your closet for the next time the trend comes around (and it will).

My name is Stacey, I’m a Millenial(ish), and I’m addicted to TikTok. When I first told my friends and family I joined, they told me I was too old for TikTok. We joked about how ridiculous our older Millenial friends looked doing the savage dance. You know what I’m talking about – your friends who share their TikToks to Instagram and other platforms.

It’s strawberry season and my family is so happy. Strawberries are my son’s favorite fruit, so I always stock up on them when it’s the prime season. This year, I went a little overboard and had way too many. That’s why I decided to try baking with fresh strawberries this time around.

I recently participated in a few zoom interviews for a few different positions. Since they were all via zoom, I didn’t have to worry much about what I was wearing on the lower half. As I wrote in this post about preparing for a video interview, you should focus on how your upper body looks. I chose to wear blouses and blazers for those interviews. But what about your hair? Have you considered how to wear your hair for an interview?

Yesterday, the day when many people chose to be silent in solidarity and to amplify Black voices, I spoke out. It’s not that I don’t support Black voices, I absolutely do. I will be sharing Black voices on my social media and blog now and moving forward. However, as a white mom to bi-racial children, I feel I must be vocal. My kids’ futures depend on it.

The biggest shock to me about George Floyd’s murder is just how surprised so many Americans are. To me that means one thing, they haven’t been paying attention. Honestly, I’m angry that people are suddenly outraged when African Americans have been treated inhumanely for, literally, centuries.

Back in February, I had another opportunity to visit Miami. I’ve gone the last three years in February for work reasons, and it’s absolutely the best time to visit the city, in my opinion. Now that Florida and many other states have reopened after lifting their coronavirus stay home orders, I thought it was the right time to write this long-overdo story. Today, I want to share with you some fun things to do in Miami this weekend, or the next time you visit.

It’s officially white dress season people! I mean, I don’t really buy-into not wearing white before Memorial Day, but a lot of people do. Although, I definitely do tend to break out the white dresses a lot more when it’s summertime. There is something so clean and summery about a crisp white dress. I recently got this new white eyelet dress and I love it! It’s so whimsical and flowy. It feels just perfect for summer.

I got this black and gold dress before COVID happened. I definitely bought it with going out in mind. Its the type of dress I’d wear to a nice dinner, or to a wedding. It’s fancy, but not that fancy. It can definitely be worn for a night out or wedding, but it can also be dressed down for work with a long blazer.

Believe it or not, video interviews are not that new of a concept. I was actually hired via a video interview back in 2011. At the time, the video technology was pretty decent, but it’s definitely come a very long way since then. Today’s video interviews are almost as good as being in person.

I don’t know about you, but I miss the days of being able to go out to dinner. I’m not a big drinker, but I do always like to order a cocktail or glass of wine when I do go out. One of my favorite drinks to order is a glass of red sangria. I’ve loved sangria ever since college when I traveled to Madrid.

The weather in LA lately has been quite warm. We were in the 80s the last week, so it’s definitely time to break out the spring and summer clothes. I love wearing maxi dresses because they are so easy to wear. They breathe and flow so well. I found this red floral print maxi for under $30, so I decided I wanted to share some of my favorite red floral maxi dresses with you.

Spring has officially come to LA. This week, our weather is in the 80s and I’m loving it! Although I’m still spending most of my time in loungewear, I did break out a few dresses over the last week. I decided I needed to add a few boho dresses to my wardrobe, and I’m so glad I found this one for less than $30.

Policygenius reached out to me in January to partner on a life insurance post. At the time, I welcomed the partnership because I do think life insurance is something that everyone should have, especially if you have children. Since I do have two kids, I think it’s super important I ensure they are protected in case something happens to me.

It’s been almost 5 weeks that I’ve been home with my kids, homeschooling them and sheltering in place, as mandated. None of us had any idea 2020 would bring such a drastic change to the way we live our lives, but not everything about COVID-19 has been bad. I actually think a lot of good things are going to come out of this difficult time. I’ve been contemplating a lot about my life before COVID and my life right now. I’ve had a lot of time (clearly) to reflect and here are the 7 things I’ve learned from COVID so far.

The other day, I received several bottles of Risata Moscato wine. It is a sweet white wine that has citrusy notes, so I decided I’d try to create a cocktail with it. I wanted to create a sangria margarita recipe because a classic margarita is one of my favorite drinks, and Cinco De Mayo is right around the corner!

Do you have any recipes that remind you of your childhood? This Special K Bars recipe definitely does. This was one of my very favorite treats my mom would make when I was a kid. There’s something about the peanut butter and chocolate combination that I (still) can’t get enough of. It is by far my favorite flavor combination.

Since we will all be home for the next month or two, maybe longer, now is a great time to try out a new loungewear set. Since I’m working from home, I recently ordered a whole bunch of cute loungewear, which was affordable but still stylish. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people wear frumpy loungewear or pajamas out of the house.

What are you doing with all your free time? I’ve definitely been spending more time in the kitchen. On one recent trip to the grocery store, there were very few veggies. But, I did find a 2-pound pack of mushrooms. I love mushrooms, but what the heck do you do with two pounds? That’s precisely why I decided to make cream of mushroom soup.

Well, we’re only two weeks into this ‘stay home’ order, with at least another 5 or 6 weeks to go, maybe even longer. I don’t know about you, but I definitely never planned to be a stay at home mom, let alone a homeschooling mom, who also has to manage two other full-time jobs.

So how is homeschooling going for you? Most of us never planned to be homeschooling parents, but here we are. If 2020 has taught me anything, it’s to expect the unexpected and stop it with all your planning. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is live day-to-day.

My friend Ramona from Fab Everyday recently posted a cooking/baking challenge on her Facebook page. Basically, the challenge outlined 30 things that you should try to make from scratch at your home. I have made 23 of the items, but there are still 7 I have yet to make. One of them was biscuits from scratch. So I decided to take her challenge and that’s why I made these easy homemade biscuits.

None of us were prepared for how rapidly our lives would change with COVID-19. As a small business owner, myself (yes, my blog is an actual business), I instinctively knew I’d have to adapt quickly. In order to keep my business alive, I knew I’d need to meet the changing demands of the market. I also knew I’d need to shift my content to meet my partners (the brands I represent) and my consumers (my readers and followers) where they are.

If you had asked me two weeks ago when I shot this Shein look if I’d be talking about anything other than cute floral dresses, I wouldn’t have believed you. If you would have told me that many people are afraid our economy is going to collapse and you could score major COVID retail sales, I would have asked you, “what’s COVID?”

Well, when I wrote this post I didn’t assume that Disneyland and the Disneyland Grand Californian Hotel and Spa would be closed! In these unprecedented times, when everything is closed and most people’s travel plans have halted, it’s still a great time to reminisce and think about a better tomorrow. With optimism and future family travel adventures, I wanted to recap our recent stay at the Grand Californian.

If you follow my blog at all, you know I love to bake. It’s therapeutic and calms me. I also happen to love sweets and so do my kids. Although I’ve baked a lot of recipes on the blog over the years, I can’t believe I’ve never made baked donuts. Ironically, one of my all-time top-performing stories is about a bunch of baked donut recipes. Since I had some left-over lemons, I decided I should finally try making baked lemon donuts.

When I scheduled this post, I thought I would be talking about Shein floral midi dresses with sleeves. Not that that’s not a fun topic, but given the strangeness of the coronavirus situation right now, talking about fashion feels odd, at best.

Mommy PSA: No matter what kind of mom you are, you’re doing great. I had an experience at the bank yesterday that got me thinking. We need to talk about how moms can support each other during the pandemic. We all need ideas for coping with all of the added stress and our kids being home for weeks, if not months. So, I thought it might be useful to share my experience. I also want to talk about how moms need to support each other during the coronavirus outbreak.

I love baking, especially when I have fresh citrus in my backyard! One thing I absolutely love about SoCal (and there are many) is the fresh fruit. The citrus here is darn good. Since my house actually has a lemon tree, I love getting to find new lemon recipes to try each spring.

Raise your hand if you avoid wearing shorts at all costs. ME! Up until a year or two ago, you’d never catch me in shorts. Seriously never. I have always been super critical of my legs, especially my chubby knees and thighs. So, I always hid my legs. You’d catch me in lots of sun dresses and a-line dresses that hit at the knee or mid-calf, but never in shorts.

Are you heading anywhere for spring break? I’m heading to Huntington Beach next weekend, so I’m already planning my wardrobe in my head. Long flowy dresses, like this striped maxi dress, are definitely on the list. I have some archive photos from our trip to Turks and Caicos, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite striped maxi dresses with you.

I’m so excited to bring you an awesome beauty, skincare and hair care giveaway today! There are so many goodies in this bundle, well worth more than $500! Entry is simple. Just click on the Rafflecopter link below and you can choose which entry options you want – such as following me on Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.

My baby girl turned 6 in February, so I wanted to write a little birthday wish to my daughter. I can’t believe she’s 6 already. It honestly feels like yesterday that she was born. There are many moments when I mourn the fact that they are getting older – that I’m done having kids.

Have you heard of swiss dot dresses? Until I started researching this post to accompany my new favorite black dress, I hadn’t heard the term either. But to my surprise, I found so many lovely dresses that all used the term swiss dot dresses. It’s clearly a fashion term that is consistently used for clothing that have monochromatic dots on them.

Do your kids and family like sloppy joes? I realized, recently, that my kids had never had sloppy joes! The thing is, I don’t really like traditional sloppy joes. For me, they are too sweet and I don’t like ketchup. I know, I’m weird. I don’t like a lot of condiments. But sloppy joes are a family staple, so I decided to create a healthy sloppy joe recipe without ketchup in it and I’m so glad I did.

If you had told me I’d be rocking combat boots in 2020 I would have laughed at you. I haven’t worn Doc Martens since high school. In high school, they were the shoes. I literally owned 5 pairs, at least. And I loved them so much. I had the shoe kind, the boot kind, and even the sandal kind. They were my look.

Have you heard of ktip extensions? I hadn’t until about two months ago. I’d been thinking about trying hair extensions for a couple of years. I tried tape-in hair extensions a few years ago, but I really didn’t like them. I’d read about a few other options for hair extensions – like halos, clip-ins, and weaves, but I really wasn’t sure what was right for me.

It’s February! I can’t believe one month of 2020 is already behind us. Although it does feel like Christmas was way more than a month ago, I also can’t believe it’s almost spring, at least in LA! I’m trying to enjoy these cooler temps for a little longer and that’s where this gorgeous turtleneck midi dress comes in.

If you pay any attention to fashion, I bet you’ve seen animal print midi slip skirts have officially infiltrated fashion, lately. It’s like everywhere I look, I see a girl wearing an animal print silk skirt. You know the one I’m talking about. It’s the one in traditional animal print with a brown base and black spots. And I love that look too, but I was more excited when I found this all-black animal print midi slip skirt.

For my birthday, I wanted to do something special. I was hoping to do something super tropical or exotic, but time and resources didn’t allow anything as grand as I envisioned. But, the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa agreed to host me, and everything about this resort gave me the exact vacation vibe I’d been searching for.

Last week, I shared with you that I started the FWTFL plan. One of the things I love most about the plan is the focus on whole nutrition. Focusing on whole grains, like quinoa, healthy proteins, like ground turkey, and fresh fruits and veggies. This turkey quinoa meatloaf recipe fits perfectly into the plan and a well-balanced diet.

About a year ago, one of my blogger friends kept talking about the FWTFL program in her Instagram stories. I was intrigued, but not enough to pay the registration fee. Despite not pulling the trigger last year, I’m finally starting and I am going to share my Faster Way to Fat Loss review each week of the program.

Every Christmas Eve, my mom made this authentic Italian lasagna recipe. It was one of our family traditions that I’ve since carried on to my family. This year, I made a few batches and even shared one with a dear friend who doesn’t have family in town. It makes me feel good to carry on some of my family traditions, and this lasagna recipe is at the top of my list.

One of my favorite clothing options in the fall and winter are sweater dresses. I love them because they come in so many different shapes, colors, styles and fits. You can find bodycon black sweater dresses, like the one I’m wearing, or much flowier sweater dresses, like this check-print one and this ribbed one I wore a few seasons ago.

Have you heard of La Befana and the feast of the Epiphany? I hadn’t until a few days ago. I’m always looking for more ways to connect to my Italian heritage. My birthday is on Three Kings Day – aka Epiphany, so I researched ideas of traditional Italian desserts and that’s how I learned about befanini cookies.

I cannot believe it’s almost 2020. I remember the year 2000 so vividly that it’s crazy how quickly those 20 years went. The adage that time goes faster the older you get is so very true. As the new year approaches, I like to revisit the past year and think about all the highs and lows. It can be so humbling to revisit your successes and losses. So here goes. My 2019 year in review.

My favorite time of year! It’s cookie season friends! I love Christmas time but I especially love it because it gives me so many opportunities to bake. When I looked back at all I’ve done in the 6+ years I’ve been blogging, I realized that I’m a bit of a cookie-baking addict. Just on gingerbread cookie recipes alone, I’ve made 5! That’s a lot of gingerbread. They also happen to be some of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes too!

I love wearing sweatshirts. I’d wear one every day if I had the choice. But finding cute sweatshirts for women can sometimes be a challenge. The thing about sweatshirts is that you have to find ones that are cut specially for women. Fit is really everything when it comes to wearing sweatshirts. If they are too bulky, they will look sloppy.

Do you like cranberries? I personally think they are an underutilized fruit. Most people only have them once or twice a year on Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas and they only eat them as cranberry sauce. I wanted to shake things up and see if I could enjoy cranberries another way, so I came up with this cranberry muffins recipe.

Do you ever find a piece of clothing that is so comfortable, you don’t want to take it off? That’s exactly how I feel about this ultra-comfortable black jumpsuit. I love it so much, I decided to try styling it different ways and thought it would be fun to share a few black jumpsuit outfit ideas.

We’ve lived in LA almost a year, but there are still so many areas we haven’t explored. Last weekend, we decided to check out Abalone Cove Shoreline Park and their tide pools. It was such a gorgeous drive, with amazing views. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you should definitely check it out and here is everything you need to know.

Is it just me or has leopard and other animal prints taken over fashion this fall? It’s like leopard print is everywhere. I’ve been suspect of animal prints for awhile. Last year, I talked about how animal print reminds me of Peg Bundy, and not in a nostalgic, loving way. I always thought she looked so trashy if I’m totally honest. But then I saw this leopard print sweater, and my long-held distaste for animal print started to soften.

Are you a fan of plaid coats? I love them, but I wasn’t sure I really wanted to get one because they are so very specific. They are bold and pretty loud. I decided that it would be worth it if I found one that was affordable and versatile. That’s why I wanted to share with you some of the cutest plaid coats for women, all under $50.

You know when you’ve been somewhere so many times, but it feels like the first time? That’s how I felt on my most recent trip to New York. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been in the city, but this was the first time I was there while the leaves were changing. I can’t even tell you how special it was to experience Central Park in the Fall. It made me fall in love with New York all over again.

I have a problem. I am obsessed with coats and jackets. Right now, my entire wardrobe consists of coats, jackets, jeans, and Ts. Its starting to feel like rut. But then I add a new jacket, like this colorblock jacket, and all my old jeans and Ts feel fresh again.

I recently partnered with Hasbro on a sponsored Instagram post, so they sent me two Simba toys for my kids. Simba is an interactive, robot-style animal that is so much fun to play with. He instantly became like a family pet for us. They were so generous to send us two Simba toys, that I wanted to give one of them away to a lucky reader or follower. To enter, all you need to do is click the link below and choose your preferred mode of entry.

How do you feel about faux fur? Honestly, this cropped faux fur jacket is the first one I’ve ever owned. I did get a faux fur animal print jacket last year, but I hardly ever wore it, so I donated it. Then, I saw this black faux fur coat with blue stripes on the sleeves, and thought I’d give them another shot.

Last year, I went to Beaches Resort by myself to attend the Social Media on the Sand Conference. The minute I got there, I regretted not bringing my kids with me. Beaches Resorts are kid-friendly for so many reasons. The entire resort is made with kids in mind.

Most of the time, I can pack in 30 minutes or less and I usually nail it. I almost always wear just about everything in my bag, except maybe an extra pair of undies or shoes that I brought ‘just in case’. I’ve traveled all over the world, and for extended periods of time, with just a carry-on.
