Dress

Slip dresses are one again popular this fall. They’ve been back in style for a few seasons, but the styling feels extra 90s this time around. Since slip dresses seem to be here to stay, I decided I should share some of my favorite ways to style my newest animal print slip dress. I’m also sharing some of my favorite picks at affordable prices.

You know that one item in your closet that you wear and instantly feel fabulous? Well, for me, that’s my little red a-line dress. We know that red is color that elicits power and confidence. It makes you feel sexy and the opposite sex finds red appealing. If these things actually make you shy away from red. Stop it! Everyone should wear red.

When I saw this quilted drop waist dress, I initially wasn’t going to bother trying it on because the 1920s silhouette doesn’t usually look very good on my figure. I have a much smaller waist and very wide hips, which doesn’t usually jive with a drop waist dress. But I grabbed it anyway and proceeded to the dressing room.

You know when you find a dress and you’re like, I need this? Yeah, that’s how I feel about this black floral silk dress. I previously owned a short sleeve dress that looked very similar to this one, but over the years, I wore it out. I was extra excited when I spotted this dress because I just knew it was for me.

If you had asked me if I could wear a jacquard dress, I would have said no. I would have thought the knit material would cling to the areas I try to hide. I never thought a jacquard dress would hang right on me. Well, as I’ve said before, you’ve gotta try everything to know what works on you. This dress is now one of my favorites in my closet.

What are you wearing for Valentine’s day? I recently found this gorgeous red dress for under $40 and I think it is a perfect red Valentine’s Day dress. (I’ve linked to a similar style below. I found mine just a couple weeks ago at H&M, but I can’t find it online!) I’ve talked about special occasion dresses in the past. Generally, I’m not a fan of buying things that you’d only wear once. It’s just not practical. But every now and then, I’m down.

One of my goals for 2018 was to step outside my comfort zone, in as many areas of my life as I could handle. I’ve always loved fashion, but I have never been much of a fashion risk-taker. I’m trying to shake things up with my wardrobe and also how I style myself. This front zip dress is one little way I’m trying to shake things up.

When I spotted this navy blue lace dress (on sale!), I knew I had to give it a try. I’m such a sucker for lace, but I also love a fit and flare-style dress. Plus, I loved the little black accents in the dress. The black bands are extra flattering because of how they accent the waist and add definition to the flare at the bottom.

A couple weeks ago, I went shopping for a few new outfits for an upcoming work event. I found this military-inspired, army green utility dress, and I absolutely fell in love with it. I’ve always been into military-inspired pieces. I happen to love the army green color and the extra pockets you often find with this style. I’m also such a sucker for an a-line dress with a belted waist.

Last summer, I distinctly remember seeing this black and white striped dress, but they were constantly sold out of my size. I even went to a few different stores to try to find it. They also sold out online too. Then, a couple weeks ago, I saw the dress in the store again. It must have been popular last summer that they brought the exact same dress back for another run this summer.

On my recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, I wanted to have some fun, flowy pieces. I knew it was going to be hot, and I knew I wanted to be comfortable but put together. I started searching for tassel dresses because I thought the little tassels just felt like a fun touch perfect for a Mexican vacation. Of all the cute tassel dresses, I opted for this green Maxi because I love the army green color and I also think it’s a great choice to transition from summer to fall.

Have you heard of swiss dot dresses? Until I started researching this post to accompany my new favorite black dress, I hadn’t heard the term either. But to my surprise, I found so many lovely dresses that all used the term swiss dot dresses. It’s clearly a fashion term that is consistently used for clothing that have monochromatic dots on them.

Spring has officially come to LA. This week, our weather is in the 80s and I’m loving it! Although I’m still spending most of my time in loungewear, I did break out a few dresses over the last week. I decided I needed to add a few boho dresses to my wardrobe, and I’m so glad I found this one for less than $30.

I found this dress at Target the other day and I quickly knew I needed it. I love the stirred, stretchy bodice and the ties at the shoulders. It’s super lightweight and so easy to throw on over a swimsuit or a grocery store run. Because I love this one so much (and it’s unsurprisingly sold out), I thought I’d share some other great black floral dresses with you.

Have you taken advantage of the Amazon Prime Day deals yet? There are so many amazing deals. If you haven’t thought of Amazon as a place to buy clothing, you should think about it. They have so many cute options at really affordable prices. The sweater dress I’m wearing is actually old, but I linked to several other Amazon sweater dresses that are equally as cute and for super affordable prices.

Sometimes I stumble on a trend that I didn’t even realize was a trend. That’s what happened last week when I got this new red animal print dress. I chose it because I liked the simple t-shirt style shape with the tie at the waist. But once I started searching for comparable red animal print dresses, I realized they are everywhere! There are high-end ones, like this Saint Laurent, and totally affordable ones, like mine.

Do you dress up for any holidays? I love to get new dresses for holidays because it’s just another fun way to express myself and immerse myself in that holiday. For all the patriotic holidays – including memorial day, labor day, and the 4th of July, I love to wear red and white. I won’t wear a full-on American flag, but I already love red, so it’s a fun way to nod to our colors without being over the top.

There are certain looks that feel timeless, iconic even. For me, that’s any combination of black and white. When I saw this black and white striped dress I knew I had to order it. I can still remember my absolute favorite look to go out when I was in college. It was this black v-neck chevron black and white top.

I recently got this adorable red and gold dress and it’s giving me all of the fall vibes. I really love the flowy sleeves and the knee-length is flattering. As I was looking through the photos from our shoot, I realized this is the perfect fall dress to wear to a wedding. I wish I had somewhere to wear it. But, if you’re trying to figure out what to wear to a fall wedding, I’ve got you covered.

Do you ever find a piece of clothing and then realize it’s clearly a trend? I didn’t realize how popular a yellow midi dress was for spring until I started looking. It seems now that every way I turn I see another store selling a yellow dress. I recently got this marigold yellow silk dress and instantly fell in love. If you’re looking for a bold statement to add to your spring wardrobe a marigold dress might be the way to go.

A black pleather dress offers style and versatility, making it a fantastic addition to any wardrobe. Pleather, a synthetic alternative to real leather, mimics its look and feel without using animal products. It’s cheaper and easier to care for. I recently found the perfect black pleather dress. So, I wanted to share some history about pleather and also styling tips to make a pleather dress a wardrobe staple.
