When I was a kid, my parents took thank you notes very seriously. Every birthday, Christmas, graduation – the very same day I received the gift, I wrote a thank you note. I know that might seem pretty intense, and it was, but I’m so glad they instilled the value of hand written thank you notes in me from a young age.

I’m new to training. I’ve used running (specifically sprint intervals) over the years to maintain or lose weight, but I’ve never considered myself a runner. For the first time, I’m training for a race and I’ve been frustrated on all of the small injuries I’ve experienced already, only a couple months into training.

Broken Eyeshadow Is An Expensive Annoyance It is the worst when you buy an expensive eyeshadow, and you either drop it or it cracks while traveling. I recently had two of my eyeshadows end up broken and I wasn’t sure what to do. Given they were expensive, brand-name eyeshadows, I wanted to do what I…

It may sound silly, but one of the reasons I was most excited to move back to Arizona is because Phoenix has some really great resale and consignment stores. This week’s outfit post is a perfect example of the best resale shops in Phoenix. Almost my entire look for the Gala I attended this past weekend came from resale and consignment shops.

I consider myself a fashionista. You will find me searching for (in-store or online) deals almost every weekend. I often find the best deals at resale stores (and resale online). The problem with resale? Well, I often find items that are slightly defective. I’ve definitely purchased things with loose hems, for example. I do know how to sew, but my 1970s (literally) sewing machine is way back in our storage shed.
The moment a stylist spins the chair around to reveal your newly coiffed hair in the mirror is one of life’s lesser appreciated emotional crossroads. A good haircut gives you confidence; a bad one can bring you to tears. I recently got the worst haircut of my life. I got absolutely butchered. Gone were six…

Fashion week is here! I didn’t get to attend this year (because I was in South America!), but I still love to browse through the photo galleries online to look at all the pretty clothes and makeup. Many times, runway makeup doesn’t really work for everyday life. It can be too avant-garde or over the top. This year, I found one makeup look I thought was worth reinventing, a two-tone eyeshadow look.

I am seriously into purses (and shoes)—you could almost call it an addiction. Sprawled on the couch with my laptop, chances are good that I’m browser-window shopping for handbags. What started as a minor obsession to find a Marc Jacobs STAM bag, back in 2005, has become a weekly, if not daily, obsession to find the…

I travel a lot for work, which I really enjoy. The only downfall of traveling a lot, besides not seeing my kids for several days, is the lack of routine that comes with traveling. It can be hard to eat right and exercise while on the road, but it is not impossible. Recently, I was in DC for a week, and I actually stuck to my diet, lost a couple pounds and still managed to exercise every day.

On Friday, I attended California Academy of Sciences SuperNatural Halloween party. Although this was a kids’ party, my colleagues told me I had to come in costume. The last time I dressed up for Halloween was pre-kids and let’s just say, they were not kid-appropriate costumes. Since I had to come up with a last-minute Halloween costume, I settled on an easy cat makeup tutorial I knew I could pull off with only a few beauty products.

I’m so excited that my kids are getting old enough to enjoy the holidays. This year, I’m already getting in the Easter spirit. I created these cute bunny candy jars and I’m starting to plan all the adorable treats I can make to celebrate. I decided to let my kids get on the action, so we created these DIY window clings.
