Flowers

There are a lot of things I love about Southern California — access to gorgeous beaches, great shopping, the most amazing farmer’s markets and fresh produce. But the thing I’m reminded of most often is how gorgeous the flora is here. I officially love Southern California flowers.

For one of my first fashion posts, I used flowers as inspiration to create a fashion collage (part 1, part 2). Even after a year of posting, we liked the idea so much, we wanted to repeat it again this summer.

The other day, I decided to walk to the CAMP, which is a funky, “hipster”- friendly, little outdoor mall near my house. As I was walking through my neighborhood, I noticed gorgeous flowers in practically every direction. I often notice trees, flowers, insects and nature in general. Last week, I had the opportunity to experience Washington DC in springtime. I’ve been to DC before, but never in the spring. I was very excited to see the city in spring, as I’d heard so many great things about the cherry blossoms. What I didn’t expect was all of the spring flowers that were in bloom.

The best thing happened to me on a walk back from Harrods. We decided to stroll through Hyde Park. Before we even entered the park, we saw these guys, which was pretty thrilling in and of itself. Then, as we walked through the park, we literally stumbled upon the Hyde Park rose garden. What good luck!

Jade heard on NPR that the poppies were going to be in full bloom this past weekend because of all the rain and warmer temperatures we’ve had this spring. So, we took a quick road trip to see the Pichacho Peak poppies on Saturday.
