Beach-Themed Room Makeover with Pottery Barn Teen

This summer, I partnered with Pottery Barn Teen to transform Gigi’s bedroom into a dreamy, beach themed room—and I couldn’t be happier with the result. As she transitions from tween to teen, I wanted her space to reflect her evolving personality: fun, confident, creative, and inspired by her love of the ocean. This collaboration allowed us to design a room that feels bright, fresh, and age-appropriate—striking the perfect balance between stylish and functional.

Whether you’re searching for teen girl room ideas or tween girl bedroom ideas, Gigi’s makeover offers the perfect blueprint to help you create a space your daughter will love to grow into.

Why a Beach-Themed Bedroom?

A beach themed bedroom for a teenage girl brings calm, breezy energy to a space that should feel like a personal sanctuary. Soft blues, sandy neutrals, and pops of coral and shell-inspired accents make for a space that’s both relaxing and fun. For Gigi, it was the perfect theme—she’s always been drawn to the water, and we wanted her room to feel like an everyday escape.

Furniture Picks for a Tween to Teen Transition

We focused on versatile furniture pieces from Pottery Barn Teen that would grow with her. The gorgeous white dresser and matching nightstand are stand-out pieces that I hope she’ll have for many years. She also wanted a vanity, so we got this desk and vanity topper. She also needed storage, so we added this makeup tower. We finished that area with a plush velvet blue chair.

For her bed, we actually already had this bedframe, but we added this fun brightly colored bedding with gold accents. For seating, we chose a comfy chair for teenage girl room moments—perfect for reading, journaling, or scrolling TikTok. This chair is Gigi’s favorite spot in the room. She loves to snuggle up on it and swivel around.

The Finishing Touches: Lamps, Decor & Personality

One of the most exciting parts of the makeover was selecting lamps for teenage girl room settings that offered soft lighting while doubling as décor. Think rattan finishes, ceramic bases, and warm gold details. We absolutely fell in love with this palm tree lamp. I also took a crystal lamp from another room to add to her night stand (similar).

For wall art and other accessories, we kept things light and airy—shells, waves, and coastal vibes filled her space with a beachy feel. Accent pillows in ocean hues brought texture and warmth, while a gorgeous art work gave her space for self-expression. We added these pillows and a few other shell accents.

Tween and Teen Girl Room Ideas to Steal

If you’re shopping for tween bedroom ideas or trying to revamp a space with room ideas for teen girls, here are a few tips based on what worked in Gigi’s new room:

  • Color Palette: Stick with soft ocean tones—think seafoam, white, blush, and sand.
  • Textures: Incorporate natural fibers like rattan, linen, and driftwood-inspired finishes.
  • Functionality: Choose multi-use furniture that supports both rest and productivity.
  • Personality: Let your teen’s or tween’s style guide the accessories. Wall art, mirrors, lamps, and bedding can all reflect their current interests.

From Tween to Teen: Designing a Room That Grows With Her

Creating a room that can evolve with your child is key. Gigi is still technically a tween, but we designed the space to reflect her soon-to-be-teen identity. The result? A timeless beach themed girl bedroom that blends style with function. It’s now one of her favorite places to relax, create, and just be herself.

Whether you’re searching for teen girls rooms with laid-back coastal flair or tween girl room ideas with a more sophisticated touch, a beach theme teen room offers a versatile, refreshing option your child won’t outgrow too quickly.

Final Thoughts: Beach Themed Room

Redesigning Gigi’s room with Pottery Barn Teen was such a fun and rewarding experience. We transformed her generic space into a personalized beach themed bedroom teenage girl dreamland. It made all the difference in how she feels about her room. Now, it’s truly hers—a space that reflects who she is and where she’s going.
