Practical or Posh: Evil Eye Ring

evil-eye-ring-main In many cultures, an evil eye ring is an amulet, a symbol meant to protect it’s wearer. Whether you believe in the curse of the evil eye or not, these eyes have become a staple fashion trend popping up on all sorts of accessories.

Just last week, I showed you a wallet with eyes on it. While designers like Charlotte Olympia, with her eye shoes and bags, have made eyes a coveted part of a high fashion wardrobe.

I especially like an evil eye ring, like the ones I’m showing here, because they are pretty without screaming—I’m wearing an eyeball on my finger—which just isn’t my thing.

As you can probably imagine, the huge price difference is because one ring uses real precious stones and gold. The Ileana Makri ring features 18K gold, diamonds, tsavorite and sapphires. The Blu Bijoux ring is gold plated with crystals. If you aren’t sure about investing in an evil eye ring, then starting with a piece of costume jewelry, like the Blue Bijoux, would be the way to go. If you want protection from the evil eye, or just really love this trend, then the Ileana Makri version would be an investment in a statement cocktail ring you’ll have in your wardrobe for years.

Left- Blu Bijoux – $18
